Outdoor shows moved and rescheduled in anticipation of heavy rain.

In a city known for its vibrant summer events, today's forecast brings unexpected challenges as multiple free concerts scheduled across Albany are forced to relocate or cancel due to impending storms. If you’re a music enthusiasts who has been eagerly anticipating these outdoor performances, don’t be deterred as organizers are adapting to ensure the show will go on, rain or shine.

As we prepare to see Hurricane Beryl push through the Capital Region today bringing heavy rain and flooding to some areas, Rockin’ on the River in Troy has postponed their show and already rescheduled for next Wednesday, July 17th at 5:30p featuring Hot Cousin, Chris Busone Band, and The Albany Rock Pit Showcase Band.

The Capital Concert Series originally planned for live music under the open sky on the Empire State Plaza, however, Mother Nature has other plans forcing the show indoors. Stay dry and cool with British-born singer and Reggae artist Maxi Priest as he takes the stage inside at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center at 5:30p.

The Freedom Park Summer Concert Series has yet to address weather concerns with the party rock band Cryin’ Out Loud! scheduled to take the stage at 7p.  Concerts in Freedom Park, next to Jumpin’ Jacks in Scotia are rain or shine so it is unclear if the show will go on, though they are known to post updates on the Freedom Park Facebook Page.

As the storms eventually subside we have more shows to look forward to in the upcoming summer weeks in the Capital Region.  The rain may have rescheduled or moved concerts, but it certainly will not dampen the spirit of community and celebration that defines Albany's summer music scene.
