Strawberry Moon Over Albany Tonight: When and How to See It

Florion Goga, Reuters

It will be larger and much brighter than usual

The Capital Region should get a decent view of the Strawberry Moon tonight, June 10. The full moon will rise around 8:30 PM, it will reach peak brightness at 3:43 AM early Wednesday morning.

Weather may be a factor early on, but skies are expected to clear up after 9pm. By peak moon time, conditions are expected to improve, offering a good view if you're staying up late or waking up early.

According to Weather.com, the 2025 Strawberry Moon is special because the moon will appear 'large and low' in the sky at a view that won't be seen again until 2043. So no telescope needed, just step outside and look southeast.

Despite the name, the Strawberry Moon isn’t red, it’s named for the June strawberry harvest. It’s the last full moon of spring or the first of summer, depending on the calendar.
